Total Water Cleaner By Glennis Taylor (extended)

We are aware of the need to keep the body hydrated. We are also aware and concerned with the waste of the precious natural resource we rely on for our very lives: water. As the population continues to surge and our water supplies are threatened by pollution and irresponsible usage, we are seeking solutions for this serious situation.

The business of water is a growing industry around the globe. We are encouraged to down our daily quota of water per day to maintain a healthy body. But not just any water: we want good quality water that enhances our body’s vitality. In so many parts of the world, many people die on a daily basis from tainted and untreated water. Here in North America we are lucky to have water from our taps that is generally safe from microbial contaminants. Chlorine and more recently chloramine is used to treat our municipal drinking water making it largely free of disease producing microorganisms. These critters are just one important aspect of healthy water that we must address.

New and innovative ways of purifying water are being researched and marketed as the technology explodes in this crucial area of concern. Beyond the threat of microbes in our tap water, we are now identifying other horrifying and invisible health altering contaminants that are present in a sparking glass of tap water. As you sip that cool, thirst quenching gift of life on a hot day, did you know that you are possibly getting a dose of antibiotics or antidepressants, or how about birth control hormones or anti anxiety meds along with trace amounts of cancer medications and other common pharmaceuticals! From old pipes we may get copper or lead and even asbestos. We can only imagine what a steady drip of pharmaceuticals and heavy metals can do to us!

With this documented information, we are less inclined to drink right from the tap. Over the past couple of decades we have seen the booming bottled water business flood the shelves with clear plastic bottles of “pristine” looking water. It seems this bottled water business is not highly regulated and so much of the water in those handy bottles is basically tap water that may be further treated or perhaps not. Some are labeled as sourced from spring waters. Some studies have shown that most of the brands of water tested had some contaminants in the water. It is not only the questionable quality of the water in the bottles, but the bottles themselves that have become an enormous issue.

When we consider the economic and environmental costs of producing that bottle of water and the plastic trail of used bottles, it is not a good proposition. In order to get that bottle of water into your hands, so many steps are required. It is estimated, in a study done by the Pacific Institute in Oakland California, that it takes up to 2000 times more energy to produce a bottle of water than to make a glass of tap water. In 2007, in the USA, about 33 billion liters of bottled water were purchased. To make those number of bottles, approximately 23 to 54 million barrels of oil were used in the process. About 3 liters of water is used to produce 1 liter of bottled water. Then there is the CO2 output to consider. The industry has expanded since theses numbers were released. Recent data shows the more than 100 million water bottles are used daily on a global basis.

The raw material of crude oil must be fabricated into plastic…the plastic is then formed into bottles…. the bottles are then filled with the processed water…. then sealed and labeled. The filled bottles are then transported all over the world. They are warehoused…. placed on store shelves and then once the water is consumed, the bottles are either recycled or thrown out. According to some stats, only one bottle in five is recycled. The rest find their way into landfills or lakes and oceans where they impact our water ecology. It may take several centuries before the plastic breaks down.

We don’t want to contribute to this mushrooming problem, nor do we want to drink water from the tap that may be harmful to our health in many ways. The chlorine and chloramine (chlorine and ammonia) that disinfects tap water affects our microbiome by killing off the good bacteria that are instrumental in the maintenance of good health. More information is forthcoming on having a healthy gut flora for not only gut health, but also mental health and general body function. THM’s or trihalomethanes are formed by the interaction of organic matter in the water with chlorine. The level of THM’s depends on the amount of chlorine used as well as the amount of organics as well as exposure time. More research is needed, but there may be a link between THM’s and cancer and possibly other health concerns. We are exposed to THM’s in chlorinated drinking water as well as in the bath or shower.

Avoiding most of these undesirables in our city tap water is actually easier and more affordable than you may think. Chad from Total Water Cleaners cleared up some of the questions surrounding the methods of eliminating toxins from our treated city water supply.

Total Water Cleaners distributes a whole home water cleaner system that uses a carbon filter made from coconut shells. This GAC (granulated activated carbon) filter is made of loose finely ground carbon that is a highly porous material providing a very large surface area that is able to adsorb organic compounds as well as some synthetic organic compounds. One gram of GAC has a surface area of approximately one thousand square meters. One pound has a surface area equivalent to about 100 football fields. The ability of GAC to adsorb contaminants in the water makes it ideal as a home filtration system. The slight positive electrical charge of the carbon attracts to its surface chemicals and impurities in our tap water.

Besides removing the chlorine and chloramides and resulting THM’s, it can effectively reduce 95% of VOC’s, herbicides, pesticides, man made chemicals such as pharmaceuticals, as well as some heavy metals and even radon. The amount of carbon in the filter and the amount of time the water is in contact with the GAC is a factor in the effectiveness of the filtration system. The beneficial essential minerals found in the water remain intact.

Total Water Cleaners uses the whole home system to clean the city water as it enters your home. The GAC filter tank uses highest grade NSF certified carbon and is installed ideally just past the water meter system and takes up minimal space with its upright profile: only 8 inches around and 44 inches high. It can easily be installed in tight spaces. This system will effectively clean the water for all household uses and generally lasts a family of four about 4 to 6 years. It is a closed system with virtually no maintenance required.

The company started in Manitoba, but now services areas of Saskatchewan as well as the Richmond and Victoria areas. They have been so successful with customer retention as people see and feel the difference in their water and resulting health. Skin problems such as dry skin, eczema and psoriasis may clear up without the irritating exposure to chlorines as well as improve some lung conditions, as the disinfectants in the water can be respiratory irritants. Chad said that the only customers that they have lost have been because the customer had to move away. People are happy and have confidence in the filtered water they are using.

Total Water Cleaners offers a 30-day trial with 100% guarantee for satisfaction. For less than the cost of a small coffee a day you can provide safe, clean water for your family. The water cleaner system is usually rented with no concerns about maintenance. That is one good investment!!!

“If you are not drinking filtered water, you ARE the filter.”
