The Vancouver Folk Music Festival presents
with special guests The Brass Action
Saturday, February 4, 8pm
The Biltmore Cabaret
Kobo Town, fronted by Trinidadian born Drew Gonsalves, returns to Vancouver with their intoxicating blend of calypso, ska and rocksteady – and a brand new album. Their 2013 recording Jumbie in the Jukebox was the first Canadian album to top the European World Music Charts and was on the “Best of” many lists that year. Their new release, Where the Galleons Sank, sees Gonsalves armed with his trademark wit and gift for melody, continuing to explore the barriers and bridges built by the colonial rule that governed Trinidad for 500 years. Opening is Vancouver ska-punkers, The Brass Action. Get set to tear up the dance floor!
